The basketball cufflinks are handcrafted using basketball
leather - the same materials used to manufacture the sport balls. Much time was
spent to carefully shape the leather to fit inside the sterling silver plated
cufflink blanks.
The authentic “basketball leather” took years of trial & error and testing to
find the right process to create the product you now see. It is the same
material that basketballs are made from, and we refer to it as “basketball
leather”. It is not animal skin. Over 90% of all basketballs are made from
proprietary blends of synthetic materials. It’s the same synthetic leather that
is used to make actual basketballs. It feels and looks like a real basketball
because it is! It is generally a urethane based synthetic leather. So, from kids
to parents to current and retired NBA players – everybody loves the look and
feel of our basketball leather.
The cufflinks themselves are plated with sterling silver. They are 18mm wide,
about the size of a dime. They are nickel-free and lead-free. They have a
smooth, scratch-free, mirror like appearance.
